NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Trinity Western earned its first victory of the preseason, beating NCAA Division I Cal State Northridge 3-1 Thursday at Matador Soccer Field.

"I was really pleased with the way we started. We had more battle and determination and looked to play against some athletic and quick players. I liked our mindset. We had lots of good individual performances tonight, but overall I was impressed with our desire to win the ball back and our ability to play intelligently.
"Mansha showed a lot of threat and vision and her ball to Lianna for our first goal was superb. She was rewarded for her efforts with a wonderful solo goal and in the same way Kate's battling was rewarded by her goal, which was a wonderful strike. Our defenders were also really solid. Overall, I'm pleased that we took a good step in the right direction."
