THIS WEEK IN SPARTA

LANGLEY, British Columbia – In this week's U SPORTS Top 10 rankings, the Spartans women's soccer team (2-1-1) are the lone Trinity Western team in the rankings, remaining at No. 8 after a road win and a tie in the Canada West Conference play. Other Canada West teams in the Top 10 rankings are the UBC Thunderbirds (4-0-0) at No. 1, the Calgary Dinos (4-0-0) at No. 4, and the Saskatchewan Huskies (3-0-1) at No. 9.
 
 
Last weekend, the Spartans earned a 1-0 win over the UNBC Timberwolves on Friday night in Prince George, B.C., then settled for a 2-2 draw in Sunday's match against the Victoria Vikes in Victoria, B.C.
 
The Spartans will now return home for two matches at Chase Office Field. TWU will now host last week's opponents, starting with the Victoria Vikes on Friday, September 18, and then hosting the UNBC Timberwolves on Saturday, September 19. Both matches kick off at 5 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canadawest.tv.

As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 13 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cross country and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes as an independent team in men's rugby and women's and men's disc golf. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 15 U SPORTS team championships and 35 Canada West team championships.
