LANGLEY, British Columbia - The Trinity Western Spartans have 11 competition starts Friday and Saturday, with men's rugby and both soccer teams at home, and the cross-country teams racing in Washington. Men's rugby hosts Victoria in a Coastal Cup matchup Friday, while the soccer teams welcome Victoria on Friday and UNBC on Saturday. All four soccer matches will stream live on CanadaWest.TV. In preseason action, the men's and women's hockey each host two home games.

• With her goal against Victoria, Sophie Crowther reached 50 career points, tying Carlee O'Brien ('07) for fourth place on TWU's career list. Seina Kashima ('18) holds the Spartan record with 58. Crowther also has 31 career conference assists, ranking second in Canada West history behind Kashima's 40.
• Yasmine Pahal's shutout victory at UNBC was her 20th career conference win, tying Ally Williamson ('16) for fourth-most in TWU history. Pahal trails third-place Angela Garriott ('04), who recorded 21 conference wins.
• Victoria enters at 0-0-2 after two home draws last week: 0-0 against Thompson Rivers and 2-2 against TWU. Sophie Crowther opened the scoring in the ninth minute Sunday before Rhianna MacDonald drew the Spartans level in the 75th minute; Yasmine Pahal made seven saves. TWU is 33-20-9 all-time against the Vikes.
• UNBC is 0-4 after dropping two home games last week, 1-0 to TWU and 5-0 to UBC, currently ranked No. 1 in U SPORTS. The Spartans are unbeaten in 18 all-time meetings with the Timberwolves at 17-0-1.

• Danylo Korzhyletskyi scored the shootout winner after recording a goal and an assist in regulation. Christian Lowe also scored in the shootout, while Cole Savage stopped two of UBC's three shootout attempts. This weekend's two games against the BCIHL's Victoria Vikes are preseason contests.

Justin Kiplagat finished ninth in 15:46.60 and David Mutai was 10th in 15:49.10. The Spartans remain No. 10 in the latest NAIA ranking and No. 4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason poll.
• The Spartan women opened their season at the same meet, led by Catherine Roper in 19th at 19:57.20 and Hadassah Duff in 20th at 20:04.00. TWU received votes in the NAIA preseason Top 25 and was sixth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason poll.
