LANGLEY, British Columbia - The Trinity Western Spartans have 10 competitions in an extended week from Thursday through Sunday, with men's volleyball opening its preseason at home, men's hockey hosting Vancouver Island, both soccer teams on the road, women's hockey visiting UBC, and the cross-country teams racing in Washington. All four soccer matches will stream live on CanadaWest.TV.

• Friday is TWU's first meeting with Vancouver Island since a 4-2 road win on September 18, 2021. The Spartans are 16-4 all-time against the Mariners, including a 10-1 home record.

• Last week at Chase Office Field, the No. 9 Spartans played Victoria to a 0-0 draw Friday before defeating UNBC 1-0 Saturday. Mansha Sidhu scored the winner from the penalty spot, while Yasmine Pahal made three saves for her second shutout of the weekend. TWU enters at 3-1-2.
• Pahal's shutout against UNBC was the 21st win of her Spartans career, tying Angela Garriott ('04) for third place on TWU's career list. Sophie Crowther has 50 career conference points, tied for fourth in program history, and her 31 career conference assists rank second in Canada West history behind Seina Kashima's 40.
• UBC Okanagan is 0-3-1 after losing 4-0 at UBC and drawing 2-2 at Fraser Valley last week. TWU is 15-0-1 all-time against the Heat and has won 13 straight in the series.
• No. 1 UBC is 6-0-0 and has yet to concede a goal after home wins of 4-0 over UBC Okanagan and 2-0 over Victoria last week. The Thunderbirds defeated TWU 2-0 in Langley on September 5.

• Alberta is 3-2-1 after dropping two road matches last week, 1-0 at Lethbridge and 2-0 at Calgary. The Golden Bears had opened conference play with three wins and a draw.

• Last week at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational in Tacoma, Wash., the Spartan men placed fourth with 94 points. Justin Kibet Kiplagat led TWU in ninth over eight kilometres in 25:26.20, while David Mutai finished 14th in 25:32.20.
• Hadassah Duff led the Spartan women in the six-kilometre race, placing 49th in 23:51.80, followed by Catherine Roper in 51st at 23:54.00 and Ava Gauthier in 55th at 24:00.30.
• The TWU men entered the season ranked No. 10 in the NAIA and No. 4 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason poll. The Spartan women received votes in the NAIA preseason poll.
