Muhic, who hails from Sacramento, Calif., but grew up in Alaska, was named the Trinity Western men’s basketball team’s head coach in 2015.
Prior to joining the Spartans, he made a name for himself in the NAIA, as he put himself in the top 25 for All-Time NAIA wins among active coaches and arrived at TWU with over 21 years of experience as a university basketball coach and instructor.
In addition to his coaching experience, Muhic has a BA from Eastern Oregon University, where he played four seasons with the Mountaineers, and has an MS in Sports Science from the United States Sports Academy.
Before coming to TWU, Muhic spent his previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. Prior to that Muhic spent 13 seasons as the head coach of William Jessup University (NAIA) in Rocklin, Calif., where he accumulated 173 wins.
During his time at William Jessup University, Muhic coached 11 All-Americans, two academic All-Americans, 24 All-California Pacific Conference and 14 academic award winners. In only the second year as a fully sanctioned NAIA Division II team, Muhic led the Warriors to a season high NAIA Division II national ranking of 18th. The 2008-09 team set a new school record for league wins by going 13-3. The Warriors had four straight winning seasons from 2006-2010, while reaching three California Pacific Conference tournament championship games. The Warriors won the 2009-10 California Pacific Conference Men's Basketball Championship which sent the Warriors to their first ever NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship appearance. In total, Muhic had a 173-169 overall record at WJU. He also served in many other capacities as the assistant athletic director and professor.
A native of Alaska, he was a standout player at East Anchorage High School where he helped lead them to numerous state tournament appearances. After completing four years of collegiate competition at Eastern Oregon University (B.S., 1992), where he was team captain his senior year, Muhic was given the opportunity to coach at the college level.
He began his coaching career in 1993, as an assistant for Pierce College in Tacoma, Wash. After one year, Muhic pursued his master's degree in Sports Science (M.S., 1996) at the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. He also spent one year as an assistant at Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore. for Dr. Jim Boutin. In 1995, Muhic was named head coach for Warner Pacific College in Portland, Ore. While at Warner, Muhic built the basketball program and secured a Pacific Northwest Collegiate Conference Championship. After four years in Portland, Muhic was given the opportunity to coach at Glen Oaks College in Michigan, where he helped the team post a record of 18-12 and make the national junior college regional tournament. With a chance to move back to the West Coast, Muhic joined San Jose Christian College (now WJU) and led the SJCC basketball program in 2003 to the USCAA National Tournament.
Aaron and his wife, Shelby, have been married since 1994. They have a daughter, Madison, and a son Malachi.
