Mark Bomba

Mark Bomba joined Trinity Western in the spring of 2011 as the Spartans Endurance Director. Since coming to TWU, he has led the Spartans cross country teams to four U SPORTS medals and eight Canada West medals, including five conference championships. With his efforts with TWU’s middle distance team, he has also helped the Spartans track and field teams to two U SPORTS medals and five Canada West medals, including three conference titles.

Under the coaching of Bomba, TWU alum Fiona Benson qualified for the 2015 IAAF World Championships and earned a spot in the semfinals of the 800m with a personal best time of 1:59.59. Bomba also helped Spartan alum Lisa Brooking qualify for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2017.

As an athlete, Bomba was the national champion in both the 10,000 metre distance and half marathon distance in 2005, while also winning the Canadian cross country title in 2000. He competed in the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 2005, the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2001 and 2003 and the Chiba Ekiden Relay in 2002 and 2004. To go along with all that, he was also the 1993 NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) national champion in the 1500 metre event while competing for Simon Fraser University.

Bomba has his NCCP Level Two Technical Certificate for distance running. He also has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser and a Bachelor of Education degree from Thompson Rivers University.
