LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western forward Haley Waugh (Surrey, BC) is the Spartan Female Athlete of the Week after tying TWU’s single-game record with three points in her first Canada West game, helping the Spartans split their season-opening series with the Regina Cougars.

The first-year forward scored the winning goal at 12:52 of the second period and added a power-play goal at 17:24 in Friday’s 4-0 victory at The ARENAS at Langley Events Centre. Waugh also assisted on Sadie Isfeld’s third-period goal, finishing with two goals, one assist, two shots on goal and a plus-two rating.

Waugh’s two goals and one assist matched the TWU regular-season record of three points in a game, most recently achieved by Kailey Ledoux in a 5-2 win over MacEwan on February 7, 2026. Brooklyn Anderson first set the mark against UBC on February 12, 2022.

On Saturday, Waugh finished without a point in a 5-3 loss to Regina. She completed her first Canada West weekend with three points and two shots on goal.

The 1-1 Spartans will visit the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday, October 16, at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver at 7 p.m. (PT), then host UBC on Saturday, October 17, at The ARENAS at Langley Events Centre at 3 p.m. (PT). Both games can be seen live on Canada West TV.
