BIOGRAPHY:
Â
Laura Morlang (Wilson) is arguably TWU’s most decorated female athlete. The Coquitlam, B.C. native is the only Spartan to earn TWU Athlete of the Year honours on three different occasions. She set TWU records that have stood for over 20 years and is the Spartans only two sport all-star and national champion.
Â
Morlang, who graduated from TWU in 2002, won TWU’s first ever Canada West and U SPORTS championship. In 2000-2001 she won the CW championship in the 60m with a time of 7.52 seconds which tied the CW record. Then two weeks later she won U SPORTS 60m gold with a time of 7.47 seconds. In her U SPORTS sprinting career Morlang was named Canada West first time all-star two times, 2001 and 2002, and U SPORTS first time all-Canadian in 2001.
Â
Not only was Morlang a star on the sprinting stage she was also a multiple all-star forward for the Spartans women’s soccer team. In 1998-1999 she was named to the BCCAA first all-star team, which she followed up with a second team award in 1999-2000.
