"When you're down by 20 points after the first quarter, it's a pretty dubious task to be able to come back from that," said Spartans coach Scott Allen. "We actually won the last three quarters, so we'd showed that we're getting better but we just need to stop the runs. We need guys to bear down and we need to stop fouling. We're just not disciplined right now and so hopefully tomorrow it'll be different."
Nixon was 17 for 20 from the free throw line and 12 for 17 from the field. He also added a team-high nine rebounds, five assists and five steals. Andrew McGuinness collected 17 points while Jordan Jensen-Whyte had 15 points – nine of which came from the free throw line.

The teams will meet in the rematch Saturday at 7 p.m. at the LEC.
