SPARTANS EDGE MOUNT ROYAL IN FOUR SETS IN WEST COAST CLASSIC

LANGLEY, British Columbia – After dropping the first set, the Trinity Western women's volleyball team bounced back to win the next three sets in convincing fashion to earn a 3-1 (20-25, 25-10, 25-15, 25-17) win over Mount Royal in the West Coast Classic Friday at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans are now 2-0 against CIS competition in the preseason after beating Calgary in three sets on Thursday in TWU's opening match of the West Coast Classic.

"It was a solid game for us," said TWU coach Ryan Hofer. "Mount Royal came to play and really pushed us hard. I think we had moments when we played really well and moments when we were very inconsistent. That's reflected in the scores and our performance from our own standards. We're working on things like communication and responsibilities and we're really just trying to be more consistent. We saw some of that today, but also we showed that we still have some work to do."

The Spartans will wrap up the West Coast Classic when they return to the court on Sunday at 10 a.m. against Thompson Rivers.
