Smith finished the weekend with a team-high 41 points over the weekend after collecting 22 points in Saturday's game.
"I really thought that Kelvin Smith had one of his better games of the season," said Spartans coach Aaron Muhic. "He moved the ball within our offence and attacked well with his teammates. We are still learning how to be consistent and compete at a high level. We are learning a lot about ourselves and I am very appreciative that our guys are sticking together. We are going to continue to work hard, stay positive and get better with every opportunity."
Stephen Shields had career highs in both points (11) and rebounds (10) as he notched his first double-double as a Cougar, while Alex Igual and Will Tallman had 13 points apiece. Brandon Tull finished with 11 points and six rebounds, while Jonathan Tull added 10 points for the Cougars.
Playing in his second game since transferring from the University of Tennessee, Rawane Ndiaye had nine points and five rebounds for the Cougars in 15 minutes on the floor.
The Spartans are off next weekend before returning to action Jan. 22-23 when they will host Calgary at the Langley Events Centre.
