SPARTANS LOOK TO BUMP SLUMP AGAINST WINLESS BOBCATS

LANGLEY, British Columbia – This weekend, the Trinity Western men's basketball team will host Brandon in a battle of winless teams that will see both sides vying to bump their respective slumps when they meet Friday and Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

The Spartans (0-12) are coming off a home weekend against Calgary in which the Dinos earned back-to-back wins, while Brandon (0-12) most recently lost a pair of games against Alberta.

SPARTANS NOTES
•    The Spartans are coming off a difficult weekend in which they lost back-to-back games against now No. 6 Calgary by a combined 227-161.
•    Lucas Mannes had a career-night offensively in Friday's game against Calgary, tallying 39 points and coming three points shy of the TWU single-game record of 42, which is held by Jacob Doerksen.
•    In Friday's loss, Danish wing Sebastian Eliasen, who transferred to TWU this year, also had a career-night as he collected 14 points.
•    Last year, TWU and Brandon were also both winless, at 0-6, when they met in the regular season. The teams split their weekend series, with TWU winning Friday and Brandon winning Saturday.
•    Kelvin Smith is fourth in Canada West in free throw percentage at 86.5 per cent (32-37).
•    Mannes is fifth in the conference with 24.3 points per 40 minutes.
•    The Spartans finished the 2014-15 season with a 2-18 record, with wins over Brandon and Winnipeg.

BOBCATS NOTES
•    Despite their 0-12 record, the Bobcats have shown improvement in recent weeks, losing to Calgary by only 10 points and six points two weeks ago before falling to Alberta by just seven and 14 points last weekend.
•    Including preseason, Brandon's only victory of the 2015-16 campaign against CIS competition was a 114-107 overtime win over MacEwan in early October.
•    The Bobcats are fourth in Canada West in steals per game with 8.7.
•    Brandon is fifth in offensive rebounds per game, with 12.3.
•    The Bobcats are fourth in Canada West in 3-point attempts per game, at 24.2, but 16th in 3-point percentage, at 29.0.
•    Earl Thompson Jr. and D.J. Jordan lead Brandon in scoring with 15.8 and 15.6 points per game respectively.  
•    Last year, Brandon finished the regular season with a 2-18 record, with wins over TWU and Victoria.
