EDMONTON – The Spartans finished the Griffins/Pandas Invitational with a 3-0 record, after beating Alberta 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22) Saturday at the University of Alberta's Saville Community Sports Centre.

The Spartans beat McMaster (3-2) and Mount Royal (3-0) earlier in the Edmonton-based tournament, which was hosted between MacEwan University and the University of Alberta

"It was a fun game tonight. It's fun to be in this gym. We always have great matches against Alberta. There are a lot of new bodies on both sides of the court, so it was fun to learn a new team. However, for us, the main focus has been on our side and figuring out how to raise a new standard. We want to create an environment of learning and this group is really doing that."

The Spartans will now prepare to play in the annual West Coast Classic Oct. 12-15 at the Langley Events Centre.
