HUSKIES TOO MUCH FOR SPARTANS

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – The Trinity Western men's basketball team opened Saskatchewan's Graham Shootout tournament with a difficult 106-60 loss to the hometown Saskatchewan Huskies Thursday night in Saskatoon, Sask. 

The Huskies used a second quarter, where they shot a sizzling 83.3 percent from the field to outscore the Spartans 35-13 to break open tonight's game and end the half with a 63-30 lead. From there the Huskies never looked back. 

Fifth year guard Vartan Tanielian (Surrey, BC) with 18 points and two rebounds, and fifth year guard Josiah Allison (Abbotsford, BC) with 16 points led the Spartans. While Lawrence Moore with 22 points and four assists led the Huskies. 

TWU finished the night shooting 31 percent (21-66) from the field and 30 percent (9-30) from the three-point line, while Saskatchewan shot 64.6 percent (42-65) from the field and 53.6 percent (15-28) from the three-point line. The Spartans had the rebounding edge finishing with 29, while the Huskies finished the night with 26 rebounds.

UP NEXT

The Spartans will continue the tournament tomorrow afternoon when they take on Nipissing University. Game time in Saskatoon is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT.
