LANGLEY, B.C. – The Trinity Western Spartans men's hockey team will put their perfect record on the line Thursday against the visiting Simon Fraser Clan at the Langley Events Centre.
WEEKEND PREVIEW
Thursday, Oct. 24 vs. Simon Fraser – 7 p.m. (PT)
THE WEEKEND STORY
- The Spartans are coming off a pair of wins last weekend over Victoria (W 9-1) and Vancouver Island (W 6-5) at home.
- SFU visits after an overtime loss suffered against Vancouver Island (L 5-4 OT) and win over Victoria (3-0), both at home.
- Evan Last (Surrey, B.C.) will look to help drive the Spartans offence as he leads the team with 10 points (4G, 6A) through the opening three games.
- Recently named ANYTHING BRANDED BCIHL Player of the Week Logan Casavant (Melfort, Sask.) will also look to stay hot after posting eight points (4G, 4A) in last weekend's wins.
- On the other side it's rookie forward Trevor Ayre leads the Clan in scoring with 6 points (6A) on the year.
- Thursday's game between the two cross town rivals marks their first meeting of the 2019-20 BCIHL regular season, with the Clan coming out on top earlier in the preseason 5-3 (Sept. 21).
- The Spartans 10 goals-against through three games are good for second in the BCIHL, conceding one more goal than first place Simon Fraser (9).
- TWU held a 4-2-0-0 record against the Clan in last year's regular season, while sweeping them 2-0 in the BCIHL semifinals.
