THE WEEKEND STORY
  • The undefeated Trinity Western men's hockey team returns home for the first home game of the calendar year, facing off against fifth place Victoria Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.
  • After picking up a pair of wins over Selkirk last Saturday (6-3) and Sunday (6-4), the Spartans extended their program record winning streak to 11 games to open the season.
  • Victoria meanwhile will be playing in its first game of the calendar year, which comes after halting a three-game slide with a 4-3 shootout win over Selkirk Nov. 29, 2019.
  • Spartans forward Evan Last (Surrey, B.C.) currently sits tied for first in league scoring with 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists) through just 11 games. After recording two points (1 goal, 1 assist) last weekend, Last moved into the top 10 in BCIHL scoring history.
  • Vikes forward Keenan Eddy leads Victoria's offence this season with 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists) in 13 games.
  • TWU holds a 2-0 record against Victoria this season, including a 9-1 win on Oct. 19, 2019.
  • The longest regular season winning streak in BCIHL history sits at 14 games, after Simon Fraser closed out the 2008-09 season with eight consecutive wins before opening 2009-10 with six consecutive.
