BCIHL ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL CANCELLATION FOR REMAINDER OF 2019-20 SEASON

LANGLEY, B.C. – The British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League has announced the remainder of the 2019-20 season has been cancelled.
 
The league released the following statement on Tuesday:
 
"In conjunction with the Hockey Canada announcement on March 13, the BCIHL has officially cancelled the remainder of the 2019-20 season. The BCIHL prioritizes the health and safety of its student-athletes, staff, volunteers and fans, and therefore will follow the guidelines concerning COVID-19 set by Health Canada. The league will continue to communicate with its student-athletes, many of whom have transitioned to online classes, and support their academic success throughout this period. At a point in time when it is safe to do so, the BCIHL will return to normal operations."

About Spartan Athletics
As official members of U SPORTS, the Spartans currently compete in 11 sports in the Canada West conference, including women's and men's soccer, volleyball, basketball, cross country and track & field, as well as women's rugby sevens. TWU also competes in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) in men's hockey and as an independent team in men's rugby. The men's and women's hockey programs will begin playing in Canada West and U SPORTS in 2020-21. Since TWU entered U SPORTS in 1999, the Spartans have won 12 U SPORTS team championships and 27 Canada West team championships and two BCIHL championships.
