RUBY NAMED SPARTANS MALE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western men's soccer outside back Jake Ruby (North Vancouver, B.C.) is the Spartans male Rookie of the Year for 2019-20 after an all-star calibre first season with TWU.

Ruby joins women's rugby star Issy Scholtens (Langley) as the Spartans 2019-20 Rookie of the Year Award winners.

Ruby put together an outstanding rookie season with TWU's men's soccer program, earning several post-season accolades including being named a Canada West Second Team All-Star, as well as being named to both the Canada West and U SPORTS All-Rookie Teams. Ruby started in all 16 regular season games and finished the year with three goals and two assists while helping TWU to a 9-6-1 record.

Following his impressive Canada West campaign, Ruby was selected in the second round of the CPL-U SPORTS draft by HFX Wanderers FC (Halifax, N.S.), as he was one of just 14 players selected from across the U SPORTS landscape in the annual draft.
