LANGLEY, B.C. – After scoring two goals in Friday's 2-2 draw with UBC, Trinity Western forward
Christian Rossi (Surrey, B.C.) is this week's Spartan Male Athlete of the Week, presented by Applewood Auto Group. This is Rossi's second time earning the award.
Â
Rossi put together an outstanding weekend for the Spartans as they stacked up against a strong UBC team over two games played. Scoring two goals in Friday's match, Rossi was able to lift the Spartans early on as the match finished at a 2-2 draw.
Â
Although Rossi had no goals or assists in Saturday's 3-3 draw with UBC, the first-year forward played an instrumental role in two of three goals scored by the Spartans. Rossi whipped in the primary crosses to create goals for
Marcus Tjernagel's (Maple Ridge, B.C.) and
Brandon Torresan (North Vancouver, B.C.), whose goal tied the game in the 93
rd minute.
Â
It has been a strong rookie season for Rossi, who has used his speed and technical ability to score a team-high of five goals throughout the season. Rossi is currently tied in third for goals scored in Canada West through 12 games.
Â
With Canada West conference play wrapped up for the Spartans, the team will be relying on other results to find out whether they will be able to hold onto their playoff spot.
