MRU continued to score efficiently while the Spartans struggled from the field, shooting 32.1% on field goals (26-81).

NOTABLE
  • Mason Bourcier (Kelowna, B.C.), Ja'Qualyn Gilbreath (Amarillo, Texas), and Tre Fillmore (Amarillo, Texas) combined for 56 points in Saturday's game. The trio of talented perimeter scorers will be an exciting group to follow throughout the season.
QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Trevor Pridie
"We had energy to start the game, but we got flat after missing a couple shots, while they hit some 3's. We had a bunch of defensive breakdowns and we just ended up chasing them around.

"MRU played really well today. They shot the ball well and moved it well too.

"We just didn't show up today. We had some nice runs, but we started the first and second half poorly. We weren't good enough.

"We have a lot of work to do still. Our exhibition season has been short, so a game like this is good as we get some of our weaknesses exposed. We'll be trying to improve and move on from this."

UP NEXT
The Spartans begin their 2021-22 Canada West campaign next weekend at UBC (Oct. 28th) and Victoria (Oct. 29th).
