SPARTANS BEAT SIMON FRASER 5-4 IN CAPTAINS CUP MATCH

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western took home a 5-4 win over Simon Fraser on Friday. This win secures their berth to the Captains Cup Final.

Third-year forward Logan Casavant (Melfort, Sask.) was unstoppable on Friday, potting two goals and two assists. Casavant combined well with first-year defenseman Kylor Wall (Edmonton), who also added a goal and two assists en route to TWU's victory.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Barret Kropf
"It'll be a quick turnaround for the guys tonight since we have the final tomorrow. Having a bye-week had us a little rusty for the start of the game. Combined with this being a must-win game, it made us seem a little nervous at the start of the game. This game was a good confidence builder for us.

"Our veterans stepped up tonight. Travis Verveda (Alix, Alta.) was our guys defensively tonight. He was remarkable in our own end, getting pucks out and making things happen.

"It was a good win for us. We upped the intensity when we needed to. We're looking to get back to it tomorrow."

UP NEXT
The Spartans head into Saturday's final (3p.m.) with a 3-1 record as they play UBC, the team that handed TWU their lone loss of the tournament.
