SPARTANS LOSE 3-0 TO VICTORIA

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western took their third consecutive loss on Saturday, dropping the match 3-0 to Victoria.

The rain poured at Chase Office field on Saturday as the Spartans took their third loss of the season at the hands of Victoria.

Victoria was up to the challenge early as Isaac Koch beautifully struck the ball into the bottom-left corner to go up 1-0 in the 14th minute. The Spartans had chances to score throughout the rest of the second half, but the Vikes struck again in the 42nd minute as Ian Whibley potted his third of the weekend to put TWU at a 2-0 deficit.

The start of the second half saw the Spartans move their defensive line higher up the pitch, aiming to force turnovers and create chances off the counter attack. Unfortunately, were unable to convert at any point in the game.

With a back-line pushing extremely high up the pitch, Victoria was able to put the final nail in the coffin as Isaac Koch potted his second of the game for the road side.

Cross-town rival Fraser Valley (9 points) is knocking at the door of the fourth playoff spot, currently occupied by UBC (10 points). QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"I was happy with the effort tonight. I wish we could have had a different result for the seniors even with the work they put in.

"We have an important week coming up. We need to work on a couple things and see where things go. [UBC] will be a test of our character, brotherhood, and what we're made of. It wasn't the first tough weekend we've had over Thanksgiving weekend, so we'll take some time to be thankful for things other than soccer tomorrow so we can hit this week hard."

UP NEXT
The Spartans are at UBC for their final Canada West conference games of the 2021 season next week (Oct 15th & 16th).
