SPARTAN FOUR FINISHES FOURTH AT PAN-AMERICAN CUP

SANTA DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – Trinity Western's Avery Heppel (Langley, B.C.), Kaylee Plouffe (Sherwood Park, Alta.), Hilary Howe ('21, Calgary), and Brie King ('19, Langley, B.C.) represented Canada at the Pan-American Cup, finishing fourth in the tournament on Sunday.

Heppell, King, and Howe played important roles throughout Canada's run in the tournament while Plouffe – a first-year eligible Spartan – featured in three of seven games as one of the youngest members of the team.

Brie King, who has featured for Canada on numerous occasions now, highlighted the Spartan representation at the Pan-American Cup by earning tournament's best setter award.

The Canadian roster was primarily made up of NextGen players combined with some members of the senior team. Heppell and Plouffe, who are currently student athletes at Trinity Western, played with the NextGen team this past summer. The NextGen program serves as a gateway for younger players to make their way into the Canadian national team.

The Pan-American Cup stands as yet another successful run of international volleyball for Trinity Western alumni and current athletes.

Heppell and Plouffe will be heading back to Langley in preparation for Trinity Western's season opener against Thompson Rivers on Nov. 5th. Howe and King, who are Spartan alumni, will be on the move to France to pick up their professional careers for Beziers Angels in the prestigious Ligue A Féminine.
