SPARTANS DRAW WITH UNBC

LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western drew 1-1 with UNBC on Saturday at Chase Office Field.

TWU's (7-1-2) lone goal was scored by Makenna Dieterich (Langley, B.C.) as UNBC's (3-5-2) Paige Payne scored for the Timberwolves.

Spartans keeper Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) only faced one shot which would be converted while UNBC keeper Brooke Molby stopped seven of eight attempts she saw.

Olivia Kranjcec (Okotoks, Alta.) and Kjera Hayman assisted on their respective teams' goals.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Dieterich put a pass from Olivia Kranjcec into the lower right corner of the Timberwolves net to put TWU up 1-0.

Payne took advantage of a Spartan defensive miscue in the 27th minute. Hayman stole the ball, sending Payne in alone on the TWU's net. Payne made no mistake beating Miller to tie the match at 1-1 in the 27th minute.

QUOTABLE TWU Head Coach Graham Roxburgh "Frustrating result. We can't criticize the work ethic or desire, some of it comes down to our decision making which let them defend us efficiently. We certainly had our chances, but it wasn't our night to bury our chances even after starting well.

"The team played their hearts out, but when a team sits that deep it becomes hard to find that incisive pass."
