TWU forward Charity Field (Burnaby, B.C.) got space on the left side of the park, she found Dietrich in the centre of the box, where she beat her defender and sent the ball past the Dinos Leask and into the right side of the net to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead.
The Spartans Melnychuk got TWU the insurance goal in the 85th minute. Melnychuk got her second of the season when she converted a pass in the box from Sophie Crowther (New Westminster, B.C.) to give TWU a 3-1 lead with just over five minutes remaining.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Graham Roxburgh
"I am really pleased with the response at half time. We talked about connecting passes, rather than just playing direct. I think that led to a bit of a different mindset and obviously the goal probably settled us down, and I thought we had a little bit more momentum. But, credit to them, they are a very good team. I thought we were full value in the second half, but it was never an easy game and we started flat and that is what you get when you switch off or you are not totally switched on"

On Dietrich's performance:
"Pleased for Makenna because she has worked very hard and has had a few unlucky nagging injuries over the last six weeks. So for her to get on the scoresheet twice that is what we desire from her and she had a lot of confidence tonight."

NOTABLE
