SPARTANS FALL TO NO. 1 UBC

VANCOUVER – No. 3 Trinity Western lost 3-0 against No. 1 at Thunderbird Stadium Friday night.

The Spartans (9-2-2) snapped a 10-game unbeaten streak with the loss. The team's last defeat also came against the Thunderbirds (12-1), back in August (2-0 on Aug. 27, 2022).

Nisa Reehal scored two goals for UBC, while Katalin Tolnai had the third.

UBC's Danielle Steer set the all-time Canada West women's soccer career points record in the match, picking up two assists to bring her career point total to 67.

AS IT HAPPENED
Reehal opened the scoring in the 20th minute when she finished a Steer cutback from the byeline from six yards out, which Spartans keeper Hannah Miller (Langley) got a hand on but could not keep out.

UBC doubled its lead in the 45th minute when Steer got her second assist of the night, playing in Katalin Tolnai, whose shot wriggled under Miller and into the bottom far corner.

The Thunderbirds added their third goal six minutes after halftime, when Reehal blasted in her second of the game off a pass from Jade Taylor-Ryan.
