SPARTANS FALL TO UFV

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Trinity Western fell 2-1 to UFV at Rotary Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans (5-7-2) scored first on a Jordan Low (Port Moody, B.C.) marker, but UFV (5-4-2) answered back with two goals of their own.

TWU keeper Yeshua Silwamba (Maple Ridge, B.C.) earned his first start of his career in the match, stopping one of three shots he faced. UFV keeper Jackson Lau stopped six of seven shots faced.

AS IT HAPPENED
Low reeled in a grounded cross from Mikey Dale (Coquitlam, B.C.) in the 11th minute, tucking it home to get the Spartans underway.

The Cascades got their answer in the 34th minute as Parman Minhas capitalized on a scramble in front of TWU's net.

UFV iced the match in the 71st minute as Taylor Richardson put home his sixth goal of the season.

QUOTABLE
Mike Shearon – TWU Head Coach
"Once again, it has been a common occurrence with this group that we've done it to ourselves. We dominated the first half, then we let them back in with a bad moment. It was more even in the second half, but we couldn't get a goal which led to another bad moment.

"It seems like we're unwilling to change those moments no matter what we've tried differently this year. Unfortunately, that's the way it went today. When you let teams like UFV hang around, that's what's going to happen."

NOTABLE
• The Spartans are now 17-13-5 all-time against the Cascades.
• TWU outshot UFV 11-7.
