SPARTANS DEFEAT UFV 3-1

LANGLEY, B.C. – No. 4 ranked Trinity Western defeated UFV 3-1 at Rotary Stadium on Sunday.

The Spartans (9-1-2) were led by Charity Field (Burnaby, B.C.) who had a goal and an assist in the match. The Cascades' (0-7-5) lone goal was scored off a free kick by Luciana Andrews.

TWU keeper Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) stopped three of four shots faced on the day while UFV keeper stopped four of seven faced.

AS IT HAPPENED
Field didn't take long to find her way onto the scoresheet, potting a marker in the 7th minute off a Makenna Dieterich (Langley, B.C.) assist.

The Cascades would answer in the 29th minute as Andrews would bend a free kick into the back of Miller's net.

With lots of TWU chances in the second half, Sierra Halldorson (Winnipeg) found Maddie Melnychuk (Langley, B.C.) alone in the box – icing the match in the 88th minute.

QUOTABLE
Graham Roxburgh – TWU Head Coach
"Any time you win on the road it's a good thing. I thought we started lively, generating some really good chances, but our story is not burying those chances again."
