SPARTANS FALL TO COUGARS

CALGARY – The Trinity Western Spartans were overmatched Friday night in Calgary as they dropped a 6-1 decision to the Mount Royal Cougars at Flames Community Arena. MRU's Connor Bouchard scored a hat trick to lead the Cougars, who saw their record improve to 11-3-2, while the Spartans record falls to 1-14-1.
 
Cougars netminder Shane Farkas made his debut for the team between the pipes and made 16 saves to earn the win. Berk Berkeliev (Calgary) made his sixth start for the Spartans and made 39 saves in the loss.
 
In addition to Bouchard's three goals (1-19:35, 2-3:24, 19:50), MRU had two goals from Riley Sawchuck (3-11:45, 19:26) and a single goal from Spencer Moe (3-8:59). TWU's lone goal came from Jarret Penner (Saskatoon) at 10:03 of the second period.
 
NOTABLE
• The Spartans  are now 0-5 lifetime against the Cougars.
• TWU finished 0-5 on the power-play, while MRU finished 1-4.
