VICTORIA – Trinity Western's men's soccer team beat UBC in penalties Saturday afternoon to advance to the final of the Keg Cup, where the Spartans will play UFV Sunday at 4 p.m. (PT).
After a scoreless contest went to penalties, TWU earned a 3-2 victory in the shootout.
Spartans goalkeeper Alex Cordeiro (Burnaby, B.C.) stopped three UBC penalties while another T-Birds shot hit the post, as TWU won the shootout in the sixth round.

TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"I'm happy with the performance overall. We didn't finish the amount of chances we actually had in the game. I thought we could have had two or three goals, which was a bit disappointing.
Kieran Eve (Coquitlam, B.C.) played 90 minutes, which was his first action against a Canada West team, so I'm super proud of the performance he put in today. The big hero of the day was Alex Cordeiro who was really good in penalties and had a good game overall. Generally, it was a good response to some of the lacklustre performances we've had this spring and we're looking to build on this on Sunday."
