DUNN SCORES TWICE TO LEAD SPARTANS OVER COUGARS

REGINA, Saskatchewan– Fifth year all-star Anna Dunn (Edmonton, Alta.) scored twice and rookie Charis Wardrope (Maple Ridge, B.C.) got her seventh of the season to lead the Trinity Western Spartans to a 4-0 victory over the Regina Cougars Sunday afternoon in Regina, SK. The win improves the Spartans to 5-1-0 on the season, while the loss drops the Cougars to 0-3-3.

TWU keeper Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) made two saves to earn her fifth clean sheet of the season in the win, while Regina's Allyson Ford made three saves in the loss.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Cougars nearly opened the scoring in the 14' when Regina's Taylor Bubnick took a shot from well outside the TWU penalty area. Bubnick sent the ball over the Miller and off the cross bar and out of touch.

The Spartans opened the scoring in the 35'. TWU's Sierra Halldorson (Winnipeg, Man.) had a free kick from distance, which was back headed from Tilly James (Vancouver, B.C.), and ended up at the feet of forward Dunn. Dunn sent the ball into the lower right corner of the Regina net to give TWU the 1-0 lead.

TWU's second goal came in extra time as a result of the Spartans Grace Van den brink (Chilliwack, B.C.) being fouled in the box before she could put the ball into the net from a couple of meters from the goal line. The Spartans Dunn then converted the PK to put TUW up 2-0 heading into the half.

Wardrope got her seventh of the season when she converted a pass through traffic from Maddie Melnychuk (Langley, B.C.) to give the Spartans a 3-0 lead in the 52'.

TWU's Halldorson got the Spartans final goal in the 55' on a free kick to give the Spartans a 4-0 lead.
