KELOWNA, British Columbia– Trinity Western's
Tilly James (Vancouver) scored twice and keeper
Hannah Miller (Langley, B.C.) earned the shutout as the Spartans defeated the UBC Okanagan Heat 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Kelowna, B.C.
TWU's Miller made one save to earn her seventh shutout of the season and drop her goals against average to Canada West leading 0.25. UBC-O's Molly Race made three saves in the loss. The Spartans improve to 6-1-1 in conference play, while the Heat drop to 2-4-2.
James opened the scoring in the 33rd minute to put TWU up 1-0. James dribbled up left side of the pitch and, uncontested from a few meters inside the top left side of the penalty area, sent ball over UBC Okanagan's Race into the top right corner of the Heat net.
The second year defender got her second of the match, and fifth of the season, in the 89th to make the final 2-0 for TWU. James got the ball directly in the middle of the box on a touch pass from
Sierra Halldorson (Winnipeg), where the open forward easily put the ball into the back of the Heat net.
