AS IT HAPPENED
The two teams remained scoreless after the first half, but just over six minutes into the second half the Cascades got on the board. UFV's Mateo Brazinaha beat the Spartans Marwood to the ball on a pass back to the TWU keeper. A sliding Brazinaha clipped the ball, Marwood got a piece of the ball, but not enough as Brazinaha was able to get to the rebound and put the ball into the open Spartan net in the 52
nd minute.
TWU third-year forward Charles Nana (Calgary, Alta.) got his fourth of the season on a fine individual effort. Low got Nana the ball on the left side of the UFV penalty area where Nana weaved his way through the Cascades defenders. Then stopped and did a side step to clip the ball past the UFV keeper from inside the six to tie the match at 1-1 in the 64
th minute.
The Spartans' final goal in extra time started off of a corner kick by TWU second-year forward
Keishean Francois (White Rock, B.C.). Francois sent the ball to the far side of the penalty area where TWU third-year defender
Adam Hajdecki (Surrey, B.C.) reversed kicked the ball to the center of the box. Spartans second-year defender
Mario Banovic (Burnaby, B.C.) went high in traffic and headed the ball toward the Cascades net. As the ball was heading towards UFV's Torrance TWU's Low headed the ball again over Torrance and into the top of the Fraser Valley net to give TWU the 2-1 victory.
