LANGLEY, B.C. – Trinity Western men's hockey captain
Travis Verveda (Alix, Alta.), who just graduated this past spring, will launch his professional career in Hungary, having signed with DVTK Jegesmedvék, who play in the Erste Liga – the top league for Hungarian and Romanian teams.
Verveda spent five years with the Spartans, from 2018 through 2013, playing his first two years in the BCIHL (British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League) before helping lead TWU's transition into U SPORTS for the final three years of his career. Following the cancelled season in 2020-21 (COVID-19), Verveda patrolled the Spartans blueline for two seasons in U SPORTS. In 44 games for TWU over two years, Verveda registered a combined three goals and 18 assists.
In his second year with TWU, 2019-20, Verveda was named the BCIHL's Defenceman of the Year. In his rookie season, 2018-19, he helped the Spartans capture the BCIHL championship.
