SPARTANS BATTLE RSEQ CHAMP STINGERS IN PRESEASON

LANGLEY, British Columbia – In an evenly contested game the Trinity Western Spartans dropped a 1-0 decision to the defending RSEQ and U SPORTS silver medalist Concordia Stingers Saturday afternoon at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. The loss drops the Spartans to 1-1 in preseason play. The win moves the Stingers to 2-1 in preseason.

Third-year goalie Kate Fawcett (Tottenham, Ont.) was outstanding in goal for the Spartans making 24 saves on the afternoon. The Stingers Madison Oakes made 18 saves to record the win for Concordia.
The Spartans were aggressive throughout the game, which helped keep Concordia to limited prime scoring chances. TWU battled right to the last second, almost tying the game with seconds left with the goalie pulled.

Concordia's Caroline Moquin-Joubert got the lone goal of the afternoon contest when she scored on the first shot, just 46 seconds into the contest. Arianne Leblanc got the lone assist on the even-strength goal.
