SPARTANS FALL TO HEAT

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans dropped their second match of the season with a 1-0 loss to the UBC Okanagan Heat Friday night in Kelowna, BC. The loss moves the Spartans to 3-2-5, while the win moves the Heat to 2-5-0.

Third-year keeper Yeshua Silwamba (Maple Ridge, B.C.) made five saves in the loss, while UBC Okanagan's Ronan Woodroffe made six saves to record the shutout win.

AS IT HAPPENED
The lone goal of the match came in the 26th minute. UBC Okanagan forward Julian Pascual got open up the left side of the penalty area, where he sent a hard shot at the Spartans' net. Silwamba made the diving save, but the rebound went to an open Dario Fedele who slotted the ball into the open right side of the TWU net.

QUOTABLE
TWU Head Coach Mike Shearon
"A disappointing result obviously with the loss. I thought that we had a couple of chances at the beginning to get a goal early."

"We didn't play great in the first half, but we responded and had a good second half. We thought a goal was going to come, but it never did."

"Things aren't easy and we need to continue to learn to be resilient, and continue to persevere, and to continue to give everything that we have and make our own chances."
