SPARTAN MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK I THOMAS POWELL

LANGLEY, B.C. –Trinity Western midfielder Thomas Powell (Coquitlam, B.C.) is the Spartan Male Athlete of the Week after notching a goal and an assist as the Spartans earned four points with a tie and a win against the UNBC Timberwolves this past weekend at TWU's Chase Office Field in Langley, B.C.
 
On Friday night the TWU captain had four shots as the Spartans tied the Timberwolves 0-0 to open the weekend series.
 
The third-year General Studies student followed up on Saturday with a goal and an assist to lead the Spartans to a 3-0 victory over the Timberwolves.
 
Powell is currently sixth in Canada West in total shots with 10 shots on the season.
 
TWU is now 3-0-1 to remain unbeaten after the first two weekends for the first time since 2016.
 
The Spartans will now go on the road trip next weekend, September 8-9. TWU will travel to Victoria to face the Vikes on Friday night at 7:15 p.m. and then head to Vancouver to take on the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Both matches can be seen live on Canada West TV.
