SPARTANS DROP SECOND GAME TO UBC THUNDERBIRDS

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans had a better night, but were still on the short end of a 5-2 game against the UBC Thunderbirds Saturday night at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, B.C. The loss drops TWU to 0-4 in conference play, while the win gives UBC their first win of the year and moves them to 2-3-1.
 
Scoring for the Spartans were second-year forward Christian Lowe (Port Moody, B.C.), and fifth-year defence Jesse Pomeroy (Prince George, B.C.). Scoring for the Thunderbirds were Connor MCDonald, Scott Atkinson, Josh Williams, Jake Wright, and Logan Doust.
 
TWU second-year Leon Sommer (Linz, Aust.) made 30 saves in the Spartans loss, while UBC's Brett Mirwald made 20 saves in the Thunderbirds win.
 
UP NEXT
The Spartans will now head to Calgary for a two-game series against the Calgary Dinos on October 25-26 at the Father David Bauer Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. (MT) on Friday night and can be seen live on Canada West TV.
