AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans Klessens opened the scoring at 7:04 for the Spartans' first goal of the weekend. On a three-on-two rush Klessens took the puck up the middle and from just inside the dinos blueline Klessens found the top right corner to put TWU up 1-0. The Spartans Spadaffora got a power play goal with 1.1 seconds remaining in the period when he poked in a rebound to make the score 2-0 for TWU after 20 minutes. TWU outshot Calgary 13-6 in the opening period.

The Dinos had the Spartans under pressure for most of the second period and were finally rewarded with just under five and a half minutes to go in the period. Calgary's Wytinck got the Dinos within one when his shot from the left circle got past Sommer to make the score 2-1 for the Spartans. Neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the period as the score remained 2-1 for TWU after 40 minutes of play. Calgary outshot Trinity Western 16-2 in the second period.

The Dinos' relentless pressure continued and eventually found the mark when Stewart and Gengenbach scored 45 seconds apart at 12:42 and 13:27 to give the Dinos the 3-2 lead. The Spartans had two power play opportunities in the final three minutes but were unable to get the equalizer as TWU fell 3-2. Calgary outshot the Spartans 16-4 in the final period.
