ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans did not have an answer for the Fraser Valley Cascades offence Friday night as the Spartans fell 93-67 to the Cascades at the UFV Athletic Centre in Abbotsford, B.C. The loss drops the Spartans to 4-15, while the win improves the Cascades to 8-11.
TWU trailed 44-30 at the half.
Third-year guard
David Mutabazi (Delta, B.C.) with 17 points, nine rebounds, and six assists, and
Marcus Shankar with 12 points led the Spartans. Dario Lopez with 21 points, and 12 rebounds, Dylan Kinley with 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, and Ismael Hernandez with 14 points led the Cascades.
NOTABLE
- The Spartans shot 39.1 percent (27/69) from the field, 14.3 percent (3/21) from the three-point line, and 58.8 percent (10/17) from the foul line. The Cascades shot 44.2 percent (34/77), 42.4 percent (14/33), and 73.3 percent (11/15) respectively.
- TWU had the edge in rebounds 47-43.
- The Cascades had an 10-6 edge in steals.
- Last week Trinity Western swept the UNBC Timberwolves, 65-54, and 73-51 in Langley, B.C.
- Last week Fraser Valley split with the Mount Royal Cougars winning 84-74, and losing 72-70 in Calgary, Alta.
