BETTER PERFORMANCE BY SPARTANS IN LOSS

REGINA, Saskatchewan – The Trinity Western Spartans battled the Regina Cougars for much of the contest before falling 4-1 to the Cougars Saturday night at the Co-Operators Centre in Regina, Sask. The loss drops the Spartans to 2-21-1, while the Cougars improve to 6-18-2.
 
Fifth-year Isaac LaBelle (Saskatoon, Sask.) made 38 saves in the Spartans loss. Ethan Anders made 24 saves for Regina in the win.
 
Third-year forward Jarrett Penner (Saskatoon, Sask.) scored the lone goal for the Spartans. While Eric Pearce, Paycen Bjorklund, Jakob Brook, and Logan Bariage scored for the Cougars.
 
AS IT HAPPENED
Regina's Eric Pearce opened the scoring at 11:13 of the opening period to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period. LaBelle kept TWU in the game turning away 15 of 16 shots.
 
The Cougars' Paycen Bjorklund doubled the score for the home team with the lone goal of the period at 8:48.
 
Regina's Jakob Brook scored on the power play at 8:48 of the third period, before TWU's Penner pulled the Spartans to within two goals with a power play marker at 12:07. The Spartans pulled LaBelle late and Logan Barlage took advantage with the empty net goal at 17:47 to make the final 4-1 for the Cougars.
