KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Trinity Western will play in the final of the WolfPack Invitational after beating UBC 3-0 (26-24, 25-23, 25-17) Saturday at the Tournament Capital Centre.
The Spartans advanced to the tournament final after back-to-back wins to open their preseason schedule, having knocked off Fraser Valley Friday in five sets.
QUOTABLE
Brynden MacTavish, TWU Assistant Coach
"We know that anytime we get to play UBC in preseason, it's going to be a good test and I thought our team responded really well tonight. We had sustained service pressure throughout the evening and we were able to close out two really tight sets, which is always an important skill to learn how to do.
Maryn Boldon and Erica Bang led the way for us attacking, with 10 and nine kills respectively, and it was great to see them carry the load for us tonight."
NEXT UP
TWU will open their Canada West regular season schedule with back-to-back home games against Mount Royal Oct. 4-5. The Spartans home-opener is Oct. 4 at 7:15 p.m. at George Preston Arena.
