SPARTANS SHUTOUT BY SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western Spartans were unable to duplicate Friday night's performance as the Saskatchewan Huskies used a breakout second period to defeat the Spartans 7-0 Saturday night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. The loss drops the Spartans to 0-5-1-0, while the win improves the Huskies to 3-1-0-0.
 
On Friday night, the Spartans lost 5-4 in overtime to the Huskies.
 
Scoring for the Huskies were Carter Stebbings and Chantz Petruic with a hat-trick each and Conner Roulette with a single marer.
 
TWU's Leon Sommer and Cole Savage split the goaltending duties for the Spartans. Sommer played 33:58 and made 33 saves, while Savage played 26:02 and made 20 saves in the Spartans' loss. Saskatchewan's Bryan Thomson made 34 saves to earn the shutout win.
 
UP NEXT
The Spartans will now head out on the road to take on the MacEwan Griffins on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25, in Edmonton. Game times are set for 7 p.m. (MT) and 3 p.m. (MT) and can be seen live on Canada West TV.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans and Huskies were evenly matched in the opening period with Saskatchewan ending the first 20 minutes leading 1-0 on Stebbings' first goal of the night at 12:37.
 
The Huskies broke the game open with five goals: Stebbing's 5:14, Roulette 6:51, Petruic 9:26, Petruic 13:12, and Stebbings 13:58.
 
Petruic would get his third of the night at 15:40 to make the final 7-0 for the Huskies.
