QUOTABLE
Peter Hay, TWU Head Coach
"Unfortunately, we got what we deserved. We definitely did not play our best or play with the identity that makes us successful. We gave up way too many turnovers and prime chances, and MacEwan found a way to bury them in the third. Another lesson for us to learn and grow as a team and get ready for a massive series next week against Alberta."
AS IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first half of the game, TWU's Yakal got the Spartans on the scoreboard at 9:40 of the second period. Yakal was able to pot a rebound off a shot from first-year blueliner
Sadie Isfeld (Coquitlam, B.C.) to give TWU the 1-0 lead.
MacEwan got their first goal of the game on the power play when Hobbs got open and took a shot from the left side of the TWU net. The puck was deflected high and went off the bar to tie the game 1-1 at 9:18 of the final period. The Griffins, Jack got the game winner on when she slotted a rebound off a Marley Howes shot to put MacEwan up 2-1 with 3:48 remaining in the game.
