ALDERGROVE, British Columbia –The Trinity Western Spartans started well, but the No. 2 Calgary Dinos blew the game open with four goals in the second period to defeat the Spartans 8-2 Saturday night at the Aldergrove Credit Union Community Centre in Aldergrove, B.C.
The defeat drops the Spartans to 1-10-1-0, while the win improves the Dinos to 12-2-0-0.
Scoring for the Spartans were fourth-year forward Jonathan Krahan (Chilliwack, B.C.) with his third of the season, and third-year forward Mikhailo Simchuk (Kyiv) with his sixth of the season.
Scoring for the Dinos were Mack Stewart with his sixth of the season, Sean Strange with his fourth of the season, Jake Poole with his seventh of the season, Connor Horning with his fifth of the season, Brendan Lee with his third of the season, Kaiden Bugera with his first of the season, Davis Fry with his second of the season, and Pavel Bocharov with his first of the season.

Cole Savage (Abbotsford, B.C.) had 30 saves in the Spartans' loss. Calgary's Carl Tetachuk made 21 saves in the Dinos' win.

AS IT HAPPENED
The Spartans and Dinos were even throughout the first period until Calgary's Stewart opened the scoring with five seconds remaining in the first 20 minutes to make it 1-0 for the Dinos heading into intermission.
The Dinos started the second period on the power play and took full advantage, scoring twice on the double-minor. Strange scored at 0:31 and Poole at 2:18 to give Calgary the 3-0 lead early in the second period. The Dinos added a fourth goal with Lee scoring with 57 seconds remaining with his third of the season. To make it 5-0 Calgary at the end of 40 minutes. Calgary outshot TWU 13-7 in the second period.
Calgary's Bugera got his first of the season to extend the Dinos lead to 6-0 at 2:42 of the final period. TWU got on the board when Krahn got his third of the season at 9:20 of the third period to make it 6-1 for the Dinos. Calgary's Fry added to the Dinos total with a goal at 11:32. TWU's Simchuk found the back of the Dinos net at 15:18 with his sixth of the season. Calgary's Bocharov got his first of the season at 17:48 to make the final 8-2 for the Dinos. TWU outshot Calgary 11-10 in the third period.
