LANGLEY, British Columbia – After a weekend split on the road, the Trinity Western Spartans have dropped four spots to No.9 in the women's soccer U SPORTS Top 10 ranking. The Spartans defeated the UBC Okanagan Heat 4-2 in Kamloops, B.C., on Friday night before falling to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack 2-1 on Saturday night in Kamloops, B.C. In the men's rugby, the Spartans are now ranked No. 8 in the CUMR coaches' ranking. The Spartans drop one spot after a tough loss to the No. 1 UBC Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon in Vancouver.
After two weeks of conference road games, the Spartans will now have their Canada West home opener on Friday, September 12, when they will host the Victoria Vikes at Chase Office Field. The Spartans defeated Victoria 2-1 in the Canada West opener on August 22 in Victoria, B.C. Kickoff for this Friday's match is set for 5 p.m. (PT) and can be seen live on Canadawest.tv.
The Spartans men's rugby team will return to Coastal Cup action on Saturday, September 20, when they host the Pacific Pride.
