Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

SPARTANS DROP SECOND IN A ROW TO VIKES

LANGLEY - The Spartans came up just short to the #1 Vikes on Saturday, with a final score of 72-63.

The Spartans looked to regroup and bounce back after Friday night's loss, but still could not take down the Vikes offense. While the game was in reach up until the final buzzer, the Spartans could not close the gap entirely.

Jack Vandenberg (Vancouver, B.C.), led the way with 22 points, knocking down five threes. Tyus Devries (Chilliwack, B.C.), was next up with 10 points, while also grabbing 13 rebounds. Shadynn Smid had 14 points to lead all Vikes.

NOTABLES

  • Trinity Western remained efficient offensively, shooting 40.3% from the field and scoring 63 points, outperforming Victoria in overall shooting percentage and continuing to find quality looks within the flow of the offense.

  • Perimeter shooting provided a consistent threat, as TWU connected on 10 three-pointers at a 32.3% clip, helping counter Victoria's inside scoring and keep spacing on the floor.

  • Ball movement was steady throughout, with Trinity Western matching Victoria with 17 assists.

  • Turnovers proved costly, as Trinity Western committed 17 turnovers, which Victoria converted into 20 points, swinging momentum at key stretches.

  • Interior scoring was a challenge, with Victoria outscoring TWU 38–24 in the paint, highlighting the physical battle inside.

  • Despite shooting efficiently and sharing the ball, extended runs and second-chance scoring by Victoria ultimately made the difference in a tightly contested game.
