QUOTABLE
Peter Hay, TWU Head Coach
"UBC came out very fast and competitive and made it very hard on us to get things going. We had a couple good looks on the power-play but didn't finish when we needed to and UBC took over the game after that. I'm proud we never gave up and maintained a good attitude on the bench, but we definitely saw another level and we need to find a way to be able to match that if we want to have success in playoffs. This is a good learning opportunity for us."
AS IT HAPPENED
The Thunderbirds had a sizable advantage in offensive zone possession outshooting the Spartans 15-3, but were only able to beat Fawcett one time. Morris got the eventual game winner with her power play goal at 7:39 to give UBC the 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes.
The Spartans started the second period with a 5-3 power play, but were unable to get the puck past Lucifora. The Thunderbirds would have their own 5-3 power play midway through the period, but the TWU PK was able to keep UBC off the board. The Thunderbirds' Markova got the lone goal of the period with her first of the season at 15:33 to give the Thunderbirds a 2-0 lead. UBC would outshoot TWU 13-8 and take a 2-0 lead into the final period.
UBC outshot TWU 12-2 in the final period and put the game away with goals from Perrier at 6:13 and a power play goal by Morris at 8:31 to make the final 4-0 for the Thunderbirds.
