SPARTANS DROP FINAL GAME OF THE SEASON TO REGINA

REGINA – The Trinity Western Spartans ended their season with a 4-2 loss on the road to Regina.

After opening the scoring in the second period on the power play, the Spartans gave up three consecutive goals, one being shorthanded. They managed to bring the game within one, but ended up giving up an empty net goal to close the game.

Mykhailo Simchuk (Kyiv) was the only Spartan to find the back of the net, scoring twice on the power play. For Regina, they saw four different players light the lamp. Eric Houk opened the scoring, followed by Jackson Doucet. In the third period, Kade Runke and Carson Whyte found the back of the net to put away the Spartans.

The loss drops the Spartans to 4-21-3-0, while the win improves Regina to 6-22-0.

QUOTABLE

Ben Walter Spartans Head Coach

"Overall it was a strong weekend to finish our season.  We got the win last night with some great performances from our key players and I thought we did enough to win tonight, we just didn't bury enough of the many scoring chances that we created.

I'm proud of this group and I am so excited to see what we have in store for next year.  It will be a big offseason for our returning players and I believe that we are capable of big things moving forward.

I also want to mention Leon Sommer and Jonathan Krahn.  They both had outstanding games tonight in their last games as Spartans and they will definitely be missed!"
