ASHLAND, Oregon – Trinity Western's
Cole Neufeld finished 10th overall in the decathlon at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships, with 5,419 points.
After sitting 14th after Day 1, Neufeld climbed the leaderboard on Friday, getting as high as ninth before finishing 10th. His Day 2 performance was highlighted by a third-place finish in pole vault with a vault of 3.60m.
On the women's side, Claire Nichol finished second overall in the heptathlon. Nichol finished with 4,397 points in what marked the first-ever outdoor heptathlon completed by a Spartan athlete. After moving into second overall in the final event of Day 1, Nichol maintained her position throughout Day 2, highlighted by first-place finishes in both long jump (5.32m) and the 800m (2:23.99).
Teammate Eileen Noordam finished sixth overall with 4,090 points, including a second-place finish in javelin with a throw of 34.51m.
